The situation

Remote teams had video calls. What they didn’t have was context. The physical office — the layout, the rooms, the sense of where people and things are — disappears entirely on a video grid. For distributed teams trying to collaborate on spatial or design work, that loss of context is a real problem.

The brief was to build a digital twin of a real office — a 3D virtual replica that distributed team members could navigate and collaborate inside, accessible via browser without needing to download anything.

What I was hired to do

Manage delivery of the platform — coordinating 3D designers, Unity developers, and platform engineers across the full build.

What I actually built

A 3D digital twin of a real-world office environment, built in Unity and deployed via WebGL for browser-based access. Users could navigate the virtual space, interact with the environment, and collaborate without friction — no downloads, no installs, just a URL.

The delivery challenge was the tension between visual fidelity and performance. A 3D environment that looks beautiful but takes two minutes to load in a browser is useless. Applied phased delivery to find the right balance — starting with core spatial accuracy and navigation, then layering fidelity improvements once the performance baseline was proven.

Coordinated the Unity and WebGL pipeline across designers and engineers simultaneously — the 3D modelling, the interaction logic, and the deployment pipeline all had to move in sync. QA cycles ran across devices and browsers to validate stability before anything went to stakeholders for review.

The result

A production-ready digital twin accessible in any browser. Distributed teams could navigate a shared 3D office environment without downloads or specialist hardware.
