R&D Management Platform

Web AppsSystems DesignStakeholder Management

The situation

Swat Agro Chemicals had R&D teams distributed across the country with no reliable way for leadership to see what was happening in the field. Daily activities were recorded manually. Trial results, technical notes, and field data lived in different tools — or in people’s heads. Executives were making decisions with incomplete information, and nobody could tell you the status of anything without making three phone calls.

The platform didn’t exist. The process barely did either.

What I was hired to do

Deliver a web-based R&D management platform. Requirements to production. One point of contact between the client and the delivery team.

What I actually built

A role-based system with structured modules for daily reporting, field activity logs, meeting records, technical operations, and management dashboards. Three access levels — R&D Officers capturing field data, R&D Heads reviewing and approving, Executive Viewers seeing the summary that actually drives decisions.

The key architectural decision was discipline over flexibility. Instead of an open-ended tool where people could log anything, I pushed for structured inputs with defined fields. That’s what made the reporting dashboards reliable — garbage in, garbage out was the failure mode I designed against from day one.

Ran requirements workshops with R&D teams and subject-matter experts before a single line was written. Agile delivery with iterative releases so stakeholders saw working software early and often. QA cycles to validate calculations and reporting accuracy before each release. Facilitated user onboarding and training so adoption wasn’t left to chance.

The result

Manual reporting replaced entirely. Leadership now sees nationwide R&D activity in one place, in real time, without asking anyone. The system handles the coordination that used to require phone calls.

Handed over with full documentation and trained users.

Delivered clean. Their move now.
