Y2Y - Youth Training & Tutoring Platform

Web AppsMobile AppsEducationSocial Impact

The situation

High school and college students wanted to give back to their local communities through sports coaching and academic tutoring. Local children needed access to both. The coordination happened manually — sessions were arranged through messages and calls, schedules lived in people’s heads, and there was no visibility into who was engaged, what was working, or how to grow the programme.

The social intent was clear. The operational infrastructure didn’t exist.

What I was hired to do

Deliver a platform that connected student coaches and tutors with local children — across web and mobile, supporting both in-person and remote sessions.

What I actually built

A unified platform where student coaches and tutors could list their availability, children and families could find and book sessions, and programme coordinators could see engagement across the whole system. Structured scheduling workflows, session tracking, and participant management — replacing the manual coordination entirely.

Supported both in-person and online engagement from day one. The platform had to work for a session happening in a local park and a tutoring call happening over video — same system, different contexts.

Applied Agile delivery with predictive and adaptive scheduling — the requirements evolved as we worked more closely with the community stakeholders and understood how sessions actually got organised on the ground. QA ran continuously, not just at the end.

The result

A scalable youth engagement platform live across web and mobile in five months. Student coaches and tutors could be found. Children could be enrolled. Programme coordinators had the visibility they needed to grow what was working.

Delivered clean. Their move now.
